Open as Editor Window - Unexpected Results

I right clicked on search results and selected Open as Editor Window. The window opens as expected, but every time I click in this window an empty Preview window pops up. I do have Search results enabled in the Preview Tool Window.

Is the bug that the Preview tool window is popping up or that it is empty?  If you have the option Preview Tool Window option enabled for Search Results, Preview is shown for both tool window and editor window.  That is by design.   If the Preview isn't showing anything useful, then that is a different thing.

The empty Preview window was what was confusing me. I agree that having preview active in this case makes sense and is useful.

The search that is causing the empty Preview is in a new file that hasn't been saved.

Confirmed, I was able to reproduce this for an unnamed new file. I will file a defect and see what if we can handle that case better.
