How to disable minimap from ever showing up?

How do I disable the "Minimap" "feature"?  I've tried View/minimap checkbox, it keeps showing back up.
I'd like to never see the thing again, or any other 'feature' which takes up valuable pixel space in my editor.

Disable Tools > Options > Languages > All Languages > View > Show minimap

I had the same problem where disabling the minimap only disabled it for 2 out of the 6 windows.  I got rid of the rest by selecting a window with a minimap, going to the options, and selecting and then deselecting Show Minimap.
