Clearing read-only attrib from diff windows
« on: October 06, 2011, 04:26:56 PM »
This is an improvement to the existing diff windows that I have been using for years.  I find that I diff folders all the time and there are always read-only files that I need to merge changes to.  The changes are simple but unfortunately I find I have to merge these script changes for every Slickedit release.  Regardless, the effort is well worth it.

In the mutli-diff window you can also select a number of files and click the "Make Writable" button and all the files will be altered--see the status bar to see the total number of files altered.

To install:
1. Install the form files (open in Slickedit, then F-12).
2. Then to be safe merge in my changes to diffedit.e and diffmf.e.  The changes are grouped by comments so they are very easy to merge. ["// TDM start" and "// TDM end"]
3. After the merge load the two modified files (F-12).
4. You may need to restart Slickedit--its been a while since I've merged these changes.

Now when you do a multi-file diff you should see two "Make Writable" buttons--one for each tree.  If you select multiple files you can make them all readable at once using the respective "Make Writable" button.  If you open a single file to diff you will see the same buttons.
